4 Definition of Depression Depression is defined as: A psychological disorder marked by sadness, inactivity, difficulty in thinking and concentration, and feelings of dejection.

6 Signs of Depression Cont. Guilt, helplessness, hopelessness, worthlessness, isolation/loneliness and/or anxiety. Concentration. Recurrent thoughts of death. Feelings of fear or abandonment.

7 Related Factors of Depression Imbalance of brain chemical called neurotransmitters. Negative thinking patterns. Family history of depression. Difficult life events. Frequent and excessive alcohol consumption.
