1 Tess Mateo CXCatalysts June 2014
24th Global Summit of Women Paris, France Linking Sustainability, Wellness & Diversity I would appreciate your participation in the Summit’s session on “Linking Diversity, Wellness and Sustainability”, scheduled for Friday, June 6th from 4:15-5:30 p.m. Please share with Summit participants how these three seemingly disparate issues are actually intertwined. That women are key to sustainability and wellness is widely accepted, but how diverse voices among decisionmakers in government and business can positively affect both issues is not yet understood. Select an example of a corporate project you worked on that clearly showed the value of outside, diverse voices impacting on the marketability of a product and the contribution of women entrepreneurs to that effort. Speak about it from the macro, corporate level as opposed to bottom up from the entrepreneurs’ perspective. Please keep remarks to minutes to allow time for discussion. There will be simultaneous translation available in English and French. Please have photos to showcase the project, but do send them to us at least two weeks prior to the Summit. 6 Wellness Opportunities: People’s values
Vision for 2050: “One World – People and Planet” lifestyles Transformation time: Sustainable living becomes mainstream Let us go through each of the nine elements now. The first of them is “People’s values”. Vision: Our vision is that in 2050 new ways of living have taken root all over the world, inspired by a change in the way success is defined and measured, as well as innovative forms of education and connectivity. The “One World – People and Planet” ideal is embedded and practiced globally, emphasizing interdependence among all people and dependence on the Earth. Turbulent Teens: This vision not requires only new measures of success and well-being at international, national and individual levels, but also a deeper understanding of the environmental realities of the world, leading to changes in how people relate to the planet and one another, and how they define successful and desirable lifestyles. Transformation Time: Living well within the limits of one planet become then fashionable, more mainstream and part of value systems. Universal access to technology and connectivity spreads these values virtually everywhere, and they drive both innovation and opportunities. Figure: The figure shows how important it is to better understand the factors that contribute to life satisfaction and happiness as they are not necessarily linked with the growth in GDP.
