Epic - A lengthy narrative poem Written by Homer. It is about the Trojan War. It was fought between the Greeks (Acheans) and the Trojans (Modern day Turkey).

4 Beginning The war started when Paris (A Trojan prince) fell in love with Helen (A Greek Queen married to King Menelaus) and took her back to Troy. The war waged for nine years before the epic actually started. The Greeks have been unable to breach the walls of the city of Troy

5 Gods Greek gods play a large role in the epic. Many of them trick and deceive characters. They give some of them superhuman strength. They give others advice, courage or fear. Ultimately, Troy is fated to fall and no one can stop fate, not even the gods.

6 Ending The Greeks ultimately build a large horse to present to the Trojans as a sign of peace and a gift to the gods. The Trojans take the horse inside the walls of the city. Inside of the giant horse were the best Greek warriors, who ultimately opened the gates of Troy and sacked the city, sealing its fate.
