Aim and purpose the Guild
Help embed a culture of educational excellence by investing in the establishment of a strong professional academic community focused on building and sharing best practice. Create a cross-university community of staff and students with shared goals and common interests Support the Transforming Lives strategy and the Shaping Futures Board KPIs.

Foundations of the Guild
Create: a cross-university network of staff, scholars, students, and alumni with shared goals and expertise and common interests Build: new communities of experts based on the mutual exchange of experience, knowledge, skills and practice Enable: creative approaches to enhancing teaching excellence which transcend departmental, faculty, and disciplinary boundaries Give: opportunities to all who wish to engage with the Guild in a collegial environment

Membership Membership of the Guild will be open to all staff, students, and alumni on an equal and equitable basis Conferred at the point individuals sign up to the Guild website. Information on the Guild, and membership, may be open to those externals who may also wish to engage with our work. Members will sign up to groups of interest. The Guild website (and App) will send alerts when new activities are added and reminders on the day

Guild activities Projects which enhance our approaches to student engagement An International Visiting Fellowship Programme Hallam Guild On-Line – an open source repository of learning objects and resources The Hallam Guild Journal – a peer reviewed journal for staff and student publications Events and activities, such as ‘crowdfunding’ pitches; ‘give and take’ events; writing groups; Will coalesce around special interest groups.

Call for projects (this year)
Projects which support Extended/foundation or 'top up' degrees Post graduate student engagement Getting published Digital engagement Active Hallam Continuous improvement . Open call for more general staff-student engagement. e.g. networking events, conference attendance, teaching and research projects or a pilot of a new mini service All levels of academic and professional services staff £5-10k (will consider proposals of larger sums) Must be concluded by 31st July

Governance The Guild will: Report to the Shaping Futures Board
Have an Advisory Group of national and internationally recognized individuals and bodies representing academics, practitioners and students Have a Steering Group made up of Hallam academics, professional services staff and students Use Task and Finish groups as needed
