Grading Reading and Writing is combined into one grade
Math, Social Studies, and Science all receive an individual grade Grades can be accessed anytime throughout the quarter

Volunteers Volunteers will service the entire grade
All materials will be kept outside of Mrs. Entzminger’s classroom in a folder MUST be volunteered trained to help in any areas! (field trips, special events)

Homework Read 20 minutes! Wonders online reading program (login and password) Practice math facts daily. Once mastered, revisit to maintain fact understanding. Review and initial student’s agenda book daily for homework assignments and school/class notices.

STEM/Humanities STEM: Integration of math and science Humanities: Integration of reading (reading groups, writing, word study, vocabulary, grammar) and social studies * A more natural method of learning and problem solving

Continued from last year- same strategies, new patterns Review parent letters to help with skills at home Assessments at the end of each unit

Writing Narrative, Informative, Opinion
Will be embedded in Social Studies content and in STEM Formative Assessments (CBA and PARCC) will require students to type their essays

Guided reading levels CBA (County Benchmark Assessment) twice a year Reading and responding in written form to text Compare multiple texts using both written and audio Text evidence! (State-Cite-Explain) SRI (Scholastic Reading Inventory) three times a year Computer based Reading comprehension and vocabulary Lexile scores

MATH Eight Units Foundations of multiplication, division, and area
Strategies for addition, subtraction, and measurement Equal partitions and naming of fractions Multiplication and division Multiplication, division and area Equivalence and comparing fractions and measurement/data Geometry and measurement *Demonstrates computational fluency (multiplication and division facts)

Fact Fluency Students are expected to practice their facts each evening: x and ÷ Fact practices can be found on the Carroll County Math Website Quarter 1 facts are 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s Quarter 2 facts are 3’s, 4’s, and 6’s Quarter 3 facts are 7’s, 8’s, and 9’s Quarter 4 is mastery
