1 65,000,000 girls don’t go to school everyday
WHAT? Educating the target population preceding intervention efforts, especially in female hygiene, will maximize the positive impact of intervention. 65,000,000 girls don’t go to school everyday According to Unicef, 83 % of girls in Burkina Faso and 77% percent in Niger have no place at school to change their menstrual materials WHY? Intervention efforts such as providing access to products, while admirable, often go to waste. Young women who have never been exposed to feminine products like pads, tampons, and cups will have trouble properly using them. Additionally, some efforts have a net negative effect. For instance, very non-profits forget to consider the product’s contribution to the waste in the target area. If the girls receiving aid are first educated on the proper use of such products, they can better be evaluated for a certain area of need. Education before Intervention HOW? Ideally, in a target area in need of better feminine hygiene, girls would receive a thorough, practical sexual education course. This course would be designed by young women or adolescents who experienced sexual health milestones themselves. This would allow the course to be adaptable, understandable, and catered to a given population of female adolescents. Following the course, the students should be evaluated, and the really issue should be diagnosed. As a result, the intervention efforts can be catered to a more specific issue, such as privacy or cleanliness.
