Structure? Your Text Introduction. The last sentence of the introduction is the thesis statement. The thesis statement is one sentence which expresses what you want. Argument 1 + explanation. Use a linking word/phrase to begin this paragraph, for example first of all, firstly, to begin with. Argument 2 + explanation. Use a linking word/phrase to begin this paragraph, for example also, secondly. Counter Argument + explanation. Bring up an argument that your opponents would use. Then destroy it… Use a linking word/phrase to begin this paragraph, for example other people would argue that… some people may say that… Conclusion. Summarize your arguments and the counter argument. Refer back to the introduction and your thesis statement. Use a linking word/phrase to begin this paragraph, for example finally, in conclusion, to sum up.
