3 Early life Born in New York City At age three, her mother passed away
She had no guidance in life She lived a quiet life that included a lot of reading She started to read the Bible and she kept it with her to read when she was lonely

4 Life before joining the church
She grew up as the typical woman She got married to William Seton Four years after their marriage, William Seton’s father died, and the married couple were put in charge of his seven siblings and his father’s company. The work became a lot and William Seton’s health started to fail They had to leave to go to Italy in search of business friends William Seton died of tuberculosis in 1803

5 After William Seton’s death, Elizabeth set out to seek God
Joining the church After William Seton’s death, Elizabeth set out to seek God Se returned to the United States and joined the Roman Catholic Church in New York in 1805 Her choice to join the Church was from the Blessed Virgin because she acted as a mother to Elizabeth and she trusted her to make the right decision

6 She struggled to earn enough money while furthering her faith
Carrying out her faith She struggled to earn enough money while furthering her faith She could not support her children She started to work at a school for boys Created the first free Catholic school She created two orphanages and another school with the help of other sisters who were also a part of the first American Catholic sisterhood called St. Joseph.

7 Last years In 1809, she started to be called Mother Seton because she made vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience 01 She struggled with tuberculosis during her last few years but was happy because she would soon be able to go home to God 02
