Background Do Not Disturb will first ship with Communications in Q1. It will first apply to the delivery of calls and messages, but will eventually apply to the delivery of any urgent or standard notification. P0 functionality includes immediate VUI toggle on/off for the current device, and the ability to set recurring DND windows via the Alexa app. P1/P2 functionality includes support for recurring windows via VUI, and the ability to use VUI to turn on DND on all devices at once (not just the current device). This deck covers the P0 voice scenarios.

Prompt 1: Toggle DND ON Scenario: Customer is about to begin watching a movie and does not want Alexa making any notification sounds or lights during that period of time. Feature behavior: Once DND is on, no notification lights or sounds will be delivered until DND is turned off. There is no indicator light for DND, so looking at the device will not provide context as to whether the mode is on. DND applies to the current device only unless “all devices” is specified. Alarms and timers are still delivered during this period. Click to advance to the first option. Sounds play automatically.

Survey Question: Prompt 1
Please reply to the with the prompt you preferred, or alternate ideas: I won’t disturb you with new information. I won’t disturb you unless a timer or alarm is due. OK, I won’t disturb you. Do Not Disturb mode is now on. Open questions: Do we need “on this device” appended since that’s the default behavior, or can we leave it out? Do we want a first-time voice prompt that includes the “unless a timer or alarm is due” content, or do we want that always?
9
Prompt 2: Toggle DND OFF Scenario: Customer’s movie is done and they want to allow Alexa to tell them about new notifications again. Feature behavior: When DND is turned off, any indicator lights for pending/missed notifications are allowed. We may allow Alexa to mention missed notifications in the response to DND off. DND applies not just to calls, but to any incoming urgent OR standard notification. NOTE: Utterance and prompt phrasing may echo our choice for Prompt 1. Several options for customer utterance are shown here. Click to advance to the first option. Sounds play automatically.
