Learning Objectives Content- We will understand the difference between centripetal and centrifugal force Language- We will be able to define centripetal and centrifugal force - We will be able to differentiate between centripetal and centrifugal force
5
Review Any force that causes an object to follow a circular path is called a _________ force. The word “centripetal” means ________. Centripetal Center-seeking
6
How cool is this? Hot wheels
7
What are these pictures of?
8
Review If the road is icy or oily and the car slides off the road, what would cause this?
9
The washing machine Is the water being pulled away from the clothes…. Or Are the clothes being pulled away from the water?
10
“Centrifugal” Force It is actually the object’s inertia
“Center-fleeing” It is a “fictitious” force It is actually the object’s inertia Whatever velocity the object already has, it wants to keep

Learning Objectives Recap
Content- We will understand the difference between centripetal and centrifugal force Language- We will be able to define centripetal and centrifugal force We will be able to differentiate between centripetal and centrifugal force

Activity 1) Using shoulder partners, one person will do the activity at the front of the class 2) the other partner will read while at the front of the class “We are going to demonstrate centripetal force. Centripetal means “center-seeking”. The centripetal force will keep the bucket revolving and the water in the bucket.”
15
How are the water bucket and loop the loop similar?

Announcements Test corrections are due by Dec. 2nd.
Extra credit due date – Tuesday! Altered schedules coming up. Grades close December 12th. Finals
