6 Recap-Adverbs Adverbs tells us more about the verb, adjectives or other adverbs. Eg. ‘usually’ in Example 6 L.S.4.6 It usually rains heavily when I ‘m on holidays. Adverbs tells us where, when or how things or actions happen.

Use these modals to say to follow rules / or rules of law and order. Eg. Visitors to Singapore must show their passports at the immigration checkpoint. She has to complete her work tonight.

11 Expressing Ability To express ability to do something
Eg. Jason can speak Korean but he can’t read or write it. After my wine-tasting course, I’ll be able to taste which wines are dated to which year and which countries they are from.

12 Showing insistence or determination
Use that to express that it is necessary to do something. Eg. I must have a car like that! I will not stop until I have mastered the skill.

13 Showing possibility Indicates the possibility of occurrence of something. Eg. We may make it to the finals

14 Use of Adverbs Rewriting a sentence adding an adverb can give a different meaning to the sentence. Do LS 4.8 Part A

15 Taking Away of Negatives
In a sentence will help turn a sentence to positives. What are the negatives to take away in LS 4.8 Part B? Think about what other changes to make to make the sentence a sensible one?
