2. What is ASTRONOMY?
The study of celestial bodies located in outer space 
(the area outside our atmosphere)
The study of the universe is a branch of 
astronomy known as called cosmology.

How did we come to this B.Y.A. estimate?
Two ways: 1.) By observing the oldest stars and their 
      rate of cooling. (Stars have a life cycle
like humans do!)
A light year is a unit used to measure
distance between objects in space.
(1 light year = 6 trillion miles)
  2.) Examining our rate of expansion from 
    The Big Bang using mathematical
calculations and Cosmic Background  
 Radiation.  

6. What is the Big Bang Theory?
The universe started as a single point.
That point was extremely dense.
It became unstable and expanded outward.
It created the universe.
The universe continues to expand today.
