Bodies of Water East = Gulf of Mexico & West = Pacific Ocean Peninsula = a piece of land surrounded on three sides by water Baja California – Peninsula Yucatan Peninsula Plateaus and Mountains Mexican Plateau is ½ mile above sea level at its lowest point Sierra Madre = “Mother Range;” 3 mountain ranges - Sierra Madre Oriental, Occidental, and Del Sur Costal Lowlands Large flat areas are good for farming Beaches in the east and west

Climate Mexico has many climates Snow = Mountains, Warm = Beaches Elevation Warm and Humid = plains Yucatan Peninsula = Hot and Dry Northern Mexico is Dry Baja California = Dry Deserts Vegetation Forests cover about 25% of Mexico Deserts Grasslands Tropical Forests Scrub Forests
