3 3 Purpose of Special Study At its 2004 Strategic Planning Conference, the Board identified Domestic Violence as a priority for special study Office of Strategic Organizational Improvement has reviewed the current domestic violence services to determine how they can be improved

4 4 Methodology Examined the current continuum of domestic violence services in Mecklenburg County Interviewed key service providers and experts Reviewed existing documentation Program Review Materials Community and Department Scorecard Contracts Quarterly & Annual Reports

5 5 DV in Mecklenburg County Ranked #1 in the State in the number DV murders Per capita - Mecklenburg is in the lower 20 th percentile of the State DV murders increased 25% from 2002 Child abuse rate decreased 4.2% from FY03 Violent crime rate increased 5% from FY02 Balanced Scorecard: Mixed Results
