2 Introduction Today I will inform you about planet Neptune such as the temperature, the surface, the day on Neptune, and other interesting facts. Enjoy!

3 Atmosphere and Surface
Scientists think the surface of Neptune is first off not solid, because it is a gas giant, so you can not stand on it. The atmosphere on Neptune is VERY cloudy. The methane gas gives Neptune it’s blue color.

4 Diameter and Temperature
The temperature range on Neptune is very cold. It is from -360 degrees farenheit to -14 degrees fahrenheit. The diameter of Neptune is 29,297 miles. Wow!

5 Moons and Distances Neptune has 13 moons. The major moon is Triton. Two tiny moons lie inside the ring system. They are Galatea and Despina. Neptune’s moons are VERY icy. The planet is 2,794 million miles from the sun.

6 Distance and Days Neptune is about 2,700 million miles from earth. It takes 19 hours to rotate (a day) but 165 YEARS to go around the sun (a year)! WOW!

7 Origin of name and year Neptune got it’s name because the blue color on the planet reminded the founder of the sea so he named it Neptune after the Roman god of the sea. A year on Neptune is 165 YEARS!!!!!!

8 Interesting and Important Facts
Triton (Neptunes largest moon) is one of the coldest places in the solar system. Neptune is almost 4 times the size of earth! If you weigh 70 pounds on earth you would weigh 78.5 on Neptune. Neptune has 16 rings. The planet is 4.6 billion years old.
