Set no guidelines
Assert no authority
Remain distant
Remain uninvolved
Use excuses for not spending time with their child
Uses few words and fewer actions

3. Overprotective (Helicopters)
Do not allow children to experience consequences and learn from mistakes
Provides no structure, but complains
Pleads and begs child to get things done
Uses many words and actions that indicate that the child is not capable of making decisions

4. Moderate (Consultants)
Set reasonable standards (limits)
Have reasonable expectations
Encourage independence
Enforce rules fairly, firmly, and consistently
Allow children to make choices
Has a more democratic relationship
Recognizes the child’s individual needs and rights
