2 Your friends can impact your self concept
Your friends can impact your self concept. They can build you up or tear you down.

3 Name Assignment Write a name advertisement. Feel free to use the list of friendship qualities from page #3. You will advertise yourself being as being a good friend by listing your qualities. Cut it out and glue it in your notes on page #4. EXAMPLE: I am: M - agnificent  A - ble  R - espectful  Y - our friend Jones

5 Negative Peer Pressure
The pressure you feel to do something against your best judgement or morals. (give an example) Positive Peer Pressure The pressure you feel to do something good and will help you become a better individual. (give an example)

6 You will have ONE minute to complete each role play scenario
You will have ONE minute to complete each role play scenario. Record your answers on page #5 in your unit workbook. Be ready to share your responses. Write down what you would say to this person that would help them keep a positive self-concept.

7 #1 Karen is carrying her lunch tray to a seat by her friends in the cafeteria. She trips over something on the floor and falls to her knees, dumping her food all over the floor.

8 #2 Kevin spent 30 minutes last night working on a difficult math problem. He is very proud that at last he was able to complete the problem. During class he volunteered to share his solution with the class. He opened his notebook to get out his work and found that he brought the wrong notebook and did not have the answer with him.

9 #3 Mary is doing her best to help her team win the soccer tournament. She has a perfect shot at the goal and puts all of her effort in to scoring. As the ball sails through the goal, Mary realizes that she has just scored a goal for the other team.

10 #4 Jon is dressing as quickly as possible after his P.E. class so that he will not be late for English. In his English class he notices two girls giggling and looking at him. He looks down and sees that his shirt is on backwards.

11 #5 Jan just left cheerleading practice. She is feeling happy and confident because of her cheerleading skills. She walks up to a group of kids. She notices one of the kids has a bag in her pocket. The kids ask her if she wants to smoke marijuana with them. Jan really likes this group of kids and wants to be their friends. She knows lots of people that smoke.

12 FAMILY A GROUP OF PEOPLE LIVING TOGETHER FUNCTIONING AS A SINGLE HOUSEHOLD. USUALLY CONSISTS OF PARENTS AND CHILDREN.

13 FAMILY TRADITIONS TRADITIONS ARE ACTIVITIES THAT SERVE TO BOND FAMILIES TOGETHER.

Complete the bottom of page #4 in your unit workbook. Analyze one of your family traditions. How is this tradition helping create more positive interpersonal relationships with your family members?
