The Lottery Grants Manager for NW London tells us that
The Lottery is concerned that most of their grants go to larger organisations. They would like to give more grants to smaller community groups.
There are fewer applications from organisations in Brent than from the other NW London boroughs.
They have received a number of applications from small organisations in Brent which they have had to reject because they were ‘not ready’.

4. Suggested steps of the plan
1. Getting a good understanding of BCAN services, how they are delivered, at what level and to what client group
We can do this through Brent LINKS; and through a Workshop facilitated by Toynbee Hall
2. Identifying the training needs in relation to the above services
3. Establishing how those training needs could be met, including recognised qualifications for individuals and appropriate accreditation for organisations

4. Share information so we all know what we do at what level and for what client group
5. Make sure that we all know how to triage adequately so the clients benefit the BCAN services that are most likely to resolve their problems and build resilience

6. FInAL STEPS 6. Prepare a Partnerhip bid to the Lottery
7. Fundng will need to cover the services being delivered; the development needs of each organisation; and oversight by the BCAN team to ensure that the grant given is fully accounted for
8. Build structures for on-going peer review (formal and informal) so that individuals and organisations continue to develop competence and confidence in the services they deliver.
