2 Nation’s Independence
The nation wanted self-government and after years of struggle between them and the British, the British gave up declaring them independent- -> after the British divided the country into three allowing each to be self-governed (1954) 1963- a new constitution was created declaring the nation a republic After finding independence the nation struggled with regional, religious, and ethnic differences- mainly political and military

3 How imperialism both helped/hurt the country
-build a strong military -legislative council with limited authority -strengthened economy -developed structure through treaties and force -lead to democratic government Hurt -slave trade -no role in higher government -too much focus on military -regional, religious, and ethnic differences

4 Modern Country Democracy Boost in economy (fast food, etc…)
Unemployment, bad education, little to no health care Target to unfair punishment Christian presidential candidate Unhealthy living conditions- due to pollution Oil rich but taken advantage of
