The Treaty of Paris The Treaty of Paris of was the document that ended the Seven Years’ War between Great Britain and France, as well as their respective allies. French/First Nations Britain/Spain

Terms of the Treaty France gave up all its territories in mainland North America, effectively ending any foreign military threat to the British colonies there. Spain took the French territory of Louisiana France got to keep fishing rights in Newfoundland

First Nations were not included or consulted in the treaty Despite their sacrifices in battle and alliances through the fur trade Why may this create conflict?

After the war British colonists returned to farming Main priority for colonists First nations lost their status as valuable trade partners British had no economic reason to maintain good relationships as fur trade not a priority

British impeded First Nations’ ability to hunt Farm lands disrupted migration patterns of hunting animals Banned the sale of guns and ammunition to First Nations These abuses let to uprisings against the British and something had to be done

Royal Proclamation 1763 A document that set out guidelines for European settlement of Aboriginal territories in what is now North America. to claim British territory in North America after the Seven Years War Detailed how First Nations peoples were to be treated regarding land.

The Quebec Act An act passed by British parliament to provide for more effective governance of Quebec WHY? To make French more comfortable and win their loyalty French got their rights back that they lost with the Royal Proclamation
