Welcome to Latin America!
Latin America includes South America, the Caribbean Islands, and Central America. Caribbean Islands include Hispania, Cuba, Jamaica, Puerto Rico (these 4 make up the Greater Antilles), the Bahamas, and the Lesser Antilles.

Latin American landforms?
Covers about 7,000 miles Has many different landforms Highlands, lowlands, rainforests, and plains Highlands, lowlands, rain forests and plains

The Andes Mountains? Part of a chain of mountains running through North, Central and South America Andes serve as a barrier Home of the Inca in Peru (ancient civilization) Called the Rockies in the US Many active volcanoes in the region Barrier that prevents people moving into the interior Therefore more people settle in the eastern and northern coasts

The Plains? Different regions have different kinds of plains
Llanos (Colombia and Venezula) Cerrado (Brazil) Pampas (Argentina and Uruguay) L: grassy treeless areas used for farming C: undeveloped, flat land with moderate rainfall which makes it good for crops P: cattle and wheat grain are the main products

Rivers in Latin America?
Central America and the Caribbean do not have extensive river systems South America has 3 major river systems: 1. Orinoco River in Venezuela 2. Amazon River is the second largest river in the world 3. Parana River starts in Brazil Since they are surrounded by water they aren't dependent on rivers That means most rivers are in South America

Islands in the Caribbean?
Caribbean islands divided into 3 groups: The Bahamas The Greater Antilles The Lesser Antilles B: Hundreds of little islands off the coast of Florida GA: the larger islands of the Caribbean, Cuba Jamaica and Cuba LA: small islands off Puerto Rico

Resources in Latin America?
Rich in mineral resources Also plentiful in energy sources Rich in mineral resources such as gold, silver, iron, copper, tin, lead and nickel Also plentiful in oil, coal, natural gas, uranium and hydroelectric power
