Vectors Vector: a quantity that has both magnitude and direction. Represented by a ray with an arrow Magnitude: length of ray Direction: indicated by the arrow head.

This is a fancy way to say ai is the run of the vector(i is like x) and bj is the rise/fall of the vector(j is like y) So if the vector has initial (starts) point (2,-3) and a terminal (ends) point (4,2) then you can write the vector as.. v = 2i + 5j (2 is the distance between the x coordinates and 5 is the distance between y coordinates)
