2. Plastic bags are a huge source of ocean pollution and can entrap and kill thousands of marine creatures each year. Let’s make a difference here at Bushy Park by recycling these harmful plastics.

3. Many of the plastics your family purchases cannot be recycled in our Curbside blue containers. We would like you to start saving these plastics, instead of adding them to your garbage.

We will be collecting these plastics here in the front lobby of our school. Here are the types of plastics you can keep from our landfills our oceans:

5. Produce bags, Plastic Shipping Envelopes, Bread Bags, Dry cleaning bags, Case Wrap, Air Pillows, Newspaper bags, Food Storage Bags, Product overwrap, Bubble Wrap and carry out bags

So start collecting and making a difference in our community. Want to find other ways to help save our planet? Did you know that the average American uses 700 plastic bags a year?

It takes 500 years for these bags to degrade. Did you know that pieces of plastic outnumber animals in the ocean at a rate of 6:1?

8. Go to bpes.hcpss.org and take the pledge!
The United States only recycles 1-2% of plastic bags each year. Let’s change that here at Bushy Park! Take the Bushy Park Ban Bag pledge!!! Go to the Bushy Park Website and make a promise to not use plastic bags for 3 months, 6 months, even a year!!
