1 Drug and Alcohol Supervisor Training
Required for anyone managing drivers. Use with the driver drug and alcohol training.

2 Training Requirements for Supervisors
As a supervisor the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Regulations Require driver supervisors To have 60 minutes of controlled substance training And 60 minutes of alcohol training The training must be documented This training only needs to be taken one time Supervisor training should include A video The Drug and Alcohol Driver Training PowerPoint This supplemental PowerPoint

3 Reasonable Suspicion Testing Documentation Required
The supervisor must document (write down including date and time) specific articulable observations of a drivers suspected to be under the influence before sending a driver for reasonable suspicion testing. Articulable observations include: Odor (smell of alcohol or drugs) Speech (slurred speech, not making sense) Appearance (disheveled, dirty, looks different than usual) Behavior (acting unusual, clumsy, irritable, inappropriate) Symptoms may include chronic and withdrawal effects. ( shaking, sweating, sickness)

4 Suspect a Driver? Steps to Follow
Remove driver from safety sensitive function (driving) Step 2. Document articulable behavior Step 3. Arrange for driver to be taken for reasonable suspicion drug or alcohol testing Step 4. Contact Human Resources and Operations Manager A driver cannot return to work until a negative test is returned under regulation for Reasonable Suspicion Testing.

5 Customers & Drivers Can a customer send our driver for a reasonable suspicion test? No, a trained supervisor must document observations and send the driver for testing. If a customer suspects our driver is under the influence, another employee should relieve the driver from safety sensitive function and return the driver to their branch/terminal.

6 Additional Regulations
The person who sends the driver to testing cannot conduct the testing. The determination to send for testing must be made by a supervisor who has completed this supervisors training. If testing under alcohol suspicion and test is not conducted within first two hours, documentation must created.
