Mt. St Helens Facts: It is a stratavolcano - made up of many layers and a steep profile. It is capable of having many short periodic eruptions

Mt. St Helens is located in Washington State about 96 miles South of Seattle.

Ash covered the entire state of Washington and parts of Oregon. My mom who lived in Oregon at the time was also covered with ash.

After the eruption there was a huge landslide that took part of the mountain away. This is what it looks like today.

Most of you probably think that people died from the eruption and the lava but they actually died from the ash. They couldn’t breath.

Mt. St Helens Is still very young and active and will erupt again
