Circle Discussions (grades for preparation and participation) – Major grade #1- Friday 2/2 #2- Friday 2/9 #3- Friday 2/16 Panel Discussion (presentation) that requires a dramatic reading and an explanation of your book/that passage reflects the theme – Major grade Friday- 3/2 **Most of the reading/prep. for the lit circle will be OUT OF CLASS. We will have a work day on 1/31, 2/8, and 2/15. There will also be work sessions during Mav Block.

Divide up the roles for the first discussion – give each person their handout to prepare Discussion Director – prepares THOUGHTFUL questions to lead the group Literary Luminary – find passages that are the most important to talk about – lead discussion about them Investigator – research background information on a topic related to your book and teach it to the group Summarizer – prepare a summary, major points, and connection (**leave this one out if you only have 3 people). **If you have 5 people, choose to repeat either the Discussion Director, Literary Luminary, or Investigator Fill out the top part of the handout (no group name needed) Meeting Date: 2/2 Assignment pages: Divide your book into three parts, decide which pages you will read by next Friday. Turn to page 179 and complete the preview chart with your group
