How are the common people affected by unstable governments? Give one example from the presentations.

4. Explanatory Essay
For this assignment, you will choose a country with an unstable government or one with a government that is beginning to find stability after years of struggle.
You will be making connections to one of the themes from Lord of the Flies by using specific examples from the novel, literary criticism about the novel, and valid web sources/ journal articles about the country.

Rough Draft: 10/28 (by midnight)

ALL the resources you need are located in two places:

All of the PowerPoints from each of my classes. Today, you will be reviewing them.
I have created a page on my website that contains all the other materials you will need, including the literary criticism articles on LOTF.

7. Research Notes
Requirements are located on my website on the Quarter 1 page.
Resources: one literary criticism source from my website, and two sources on your country (use the PowerPoints on Classroom to find sources).
Use OWL to write each source in MLA format as they will later appear on your Works Cited Page.

8. Some thoughts on gathering research…
Remember, this is simply gathering information that you think may be useful later. Look for notes that apply to our topic, which is why the country is dysfunctional and how it is affecting the common people.
It is very likely that you will change your mind on which theme you want to write about while you are gathering info on your country. This is perfectly fine!
