2. Alcohol Ethyl alcohol is most heavily abused in the United States.
Ethanol alcohol is the principal type of alcohol found in alcoholic beverages, produced by the fermentation of sugars by yeasts.
It is a psychoactive drug and one of the oldest recreational drugs used by humans.

Alcohol appears in the blood within minutes after it has been taking by mouth.
Concentration increases after it is being absorbed from the stomach and the small intestine in the bloodstream.
