AN INTERACTIVE VIRTUAL TOUR OF ANGELICUM COLLEGE QUEZON CITY
Presented by: JOHN JOSEPH P. BATADHAY LELAND BERNAL LOREMIE ANN LAGO ETHEL P. PUERTULLANO
2
Summary This study aimed to design and develop an online virtual tour for Angelicum College. The system is designed to have an interactive environment that will let the users visit the school remotely and learn about it using 360° panoramic views. It will also have additional information such as text description of the facilities and grounds.
3
CHAPTER I: RESEARCH DESCRIPTION
Overview of the Current State of Technology Web – based virtual tour applications that are constructed by 360-degree panoramic images are started to being used extensively all over the world. Colleges and universities are now using the same strategy, with the goal of marketing the school and eventually encouraging the prospective students to enroll. Virtual tours help show the institutions facilities in a better, clearer way and the users can easily be familiarize with the place without the time, cost and inconvenience of travelling just to see the place.
4
The Interactive Virtual Tour of Angelicum College will provide a system that will present the school’s facilities and grounds in a way that the user will have a feel of actually being in the place by learning about it using 360-degree panoramic views assisted by a voice narrator that will provide information about the facilities being viewed. Feedback forms were provided so that the users can give their comments and suggestions regarding their visits in the website. Once the study is done, this system will not only help the Angelicum College in having an edge on virtually advertising the school but will also show the abilities and capabilities of the future IT professionals that were a product of the school.
5
Research Objectives This study aimed to design and develop an online virtual tour for Angelicum College – External Affairs Department in providing an interactive web advertisement for the school. To describe the existing marketing tools and strategies of Angelicum College. To design the online virtual tour for Angelicum College with reference to: Programming Language Design and Lay-out To develop and implement an Angelicum College online virtual tour. To evaluate the Angelicum College online virtual tour relative to: Interactivity Accessibility

Theoretical Framework
Identifying Problems, Opportunities and Objectives The intent is to identify the problem, determine its cause, and outline a strategy for solving it. Determining Information Requirements In this phase, the researchers’ tries to understand what information the users need to perform their jobs. Sampling and investigating hard data, interviewing, questionnaires can serve as tools to define the information requirements.
7
Analyzing System Needs
Given a clear problem definition, analysis begins. The objective of analysis is to determine exactly what must be done to solve the problem. Typically, the system’s logical elements (its boundaries, processes, and data) are defined during analysis. Designing the Recommended Software The objective of design is to determine how the problem will be solved. During the design, the researcher’s focus shifts from the logical to the physical. Processes are converted to manual procedures or computer programs.
8
Developing and Documenting Software
The system is created during development. Programs are coded, debugged, documented, and tested. Procedures are written and tested. Testing and Maintaining the System Once the system is developed, it is tested to ensure that it does what it was designed to do. After the system is tested, maintenance begins. The objective of maintenance is to keep the system functioning at an acceptable level. Implementing and Evaluating the System After the system passes its final test and any remaining problems are corrected, the system is implemented and released to the user.

CHAPTER II: REVIEW OF LITERATURE
Conceptual Literature This study utilized the following constructs and concepts which were used as background of the study: Web Design and Development, Graphic Interface and Multimedia, and Virtual Tour.
10
Web Design and Development
Web design is the art and process of creating a single Web page or entire Web sites and may involve both the aesthetics and the mechanics of a Web site's operation although primarily it focuses on the look and feel of the Web site - the design elements.
11
Graphic Design and Multimedia
12
Multimedia is media and content that uses a combination of different content forms. This contrasts with media that use only rudimentary computer displays such as text-only or traditional forms of printed or hand-produced material. Multimedia includes a combination of text, audio, still images, animation, video, or interactivity content forms.
13
Virtual Tour A virtual tour is a simulation of an existing location, usually composed of a sequence of images. They also may use other multimedia elements such as sound effects, music, narration, and text. The phrase "virtual tour" is often used to describe a variety of video and photographic-based media. Panorama indicates an unbroken view, since a panorama can be either a series of photographs or panning video footage.
14
Research Literature The following studies reviewed were found relevant to the present study and help in developing and evaluating the present system. The study aims to build a Web-based virtual tour system, focused at the presentation of archaeological sites/cultural heritage, with the approach of comprised powerful techniques such as multiview 3D reconstruction, omnidirectional viewing based on panoramic images and their integration with Geographical Information System (GIS) technologies.
15
CHAPTER III: METHODOLOGY
Research Design This study made use of the descriptive method of research with the questionnaire and interview as the main data gathering instruments.
16
Respondents of the Studies
The respondents of this project were the External Affairs staff of Angelicum College, alumni, parents, guardians, benefactors, future students and Angelicum College staffs. Using purposive sampling technique in choosing the respondents, the researchers will look for twenty (20) respondents. Table 1 shows the distribution of respondents and its percentage equivalent per item.
18
As shown in Table 1, there were 20 respondents used in the study represented by 11 AC personnel, 7 custodians and 2 prospective students who took the survey questionnaire.
19
Data Gathering Instrument
The needed data for the questions posed in this investigation were gathered through a questionnaire, interview, documentary analysis and system analysis.
20
Questionnaire. It has been defined by Good as a list of planned, written questions related to a particular topic, with space provided for indicating the response to each question, intended for submission to a number of persons for reply. Interview. These are methods of interviews where questions can be changed or adopted to meet the respondent’s intelligence, understanding or belief. Documentary Analysis. Further researches were done thru the aid of library and internet method. By means of library method, the researchers used to get some information through books, magazines and journals. Data Gathering Procedure. The data gathering procedures were done at the start of the study through questionnaire, interview, documentary analysis, and system analysis. The results were used in developing the website.
21
Software Project Schedule
The Gantt Chart shows the activities and schedules which the researchers have followed.
22
Activities and Schedules
23
In Figure 3 and Table 2 shows the tasked undergone by the researchers
In Figure 3 and Table 2 shows the tasked undergone by the researchers. Starting with the discussion of the thesis to the thesis adviser, the researchers have undergone some discussions on to what project will the group will focused on. It was followed by brainstorming wherein the researchers elaborated with the topic that their adviser suggest them to do and so the thesis topic proposal came up.
24
Survey Results Surveys are done with twenty (20) respondents. Results of this survey are necessary in the study because it will provide information about how the respondents will respond on the technology being proposed. This information may be utilized as a guide in designing the system.
25
Design and Layout of the System
26
Table 3 shows that out of twenty (20) respondents, twenty (20) said that they look for prospective schools online; fifteen (15) said that they find it engaging to have an interactive view of the schools online; and eighteen (18) said that they want the familiarization of the place without the effort of actually being there. The information provided by the respondents gave the researchers the idea on how to present the tour to the viewers.
