The subjunctive is usually the second part of your sentence ONLY IF the first part follows certain requirements

The bolded section is where the subjunctive goes

5. Il veut que je sache
The subjunctive only goes in the shaded part if the unshaded part is volition (so far).

6. Making this more difficult
If the unshaded part is an impersonal expression, the shaded becomes subjunctive.
An impersonal expression is a group of words that do not make mention of a person
“it is important”
“it is good”
