Now, let’s run through a claim example so you can understand how this coverage works… Kathie’s daughter is a junior in high school and plays on the varsity soccer team. During one of her recent games she collided with an opposing team player. Molly was knocked unconscious and taken to the local emergency room by ambulance for treatment. The ER doctor determined that Molly suffered a concussion and a broken tooth. Due the amount of pain and swelling on her face he also ordered a “CAT scan” to rule out any facial fractures and fortunately there were none. Molly was released to a primary care physician for follow-up treatment and a dentist repaired her broken tooth with a crown. She’s now fully recovered and back on the soccer field! Depending on her health insurance, things like copays and deductibles for an event like this could cost Kathie’s family hundreds of dollars! MetLife’s Group Accident insurance pays a lump sum payment that can be used to help cover unexpected out-of-pocket costs. Note that the benefit amount is based on a sample MetLife High plan design. Actual plan design and plan benefits may vary. Benefit amount is based on a sample plan design. Actual plan design and plan benefits may vary.
