Measuring data The importance of particular measures is changing. The coalition government is abandoning CVA and does not believe in equivalences of qualifications. The widening participation measure is also being replaced with calculations based on the index of multiple deprivation (IMD). However it should not be assumed that these confer expectations of either higher or lower achievement. Attainment measures, success rates, remain key and timely success of more significance on shorter programmes, however, destinations are also likely to be of increasing importance. The least successful teaching and learning
Tutors talk too much, suppress learner’s contribution and content is unimaginative Questioning is rarely penetrating enough to make learners think hard enough to develop their ideas, nor to research, explore or communicate their ideas with sufficient autonomy Too many learners remain unchallenged and their own expectation of what they can achieve are not extended sufficiently Workplace training is not always sufficiently planned and linked to the off the job training to make best use of the opportunities available Questions if required from panel to stimulate discussion… · Future challenges: · 5
