JESUS STOOPS DOWN TO MAKE US GREAT.

2. TEXT : JOHN 8:1-10 (NKJV) 1 But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.
2 Now early in the morning He came again into the temple, and all the people came to Him; and He sat down and taught them.

3 Then the scribes and Pharisees brought to Him a woman caught in adultery. And when they had set her in the midst, 
4 they said to Him, “Teacher, this woman was caught in adultery, in the very act.

5 Now Moses, in the law, commanded us that such should be stoned. But what do You say?”
 6 This they said, testing Him, that they might have something of which to accuse Him. But Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground with His finger, as though He did not hear.

7 So when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself up and said to them, “He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first.”

9 Then those who heard it, being convicted by their conscience, went out one by one, beginning with the oldest even to the last. And Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.

10 When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, “Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?”
11 She said, “No one, Lord.”
And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”

-This woman was caught in “the very act” of adultery

11. B. THE WOMAN AND HER SHAME
Sin is a shameful thing–
-It is shameful when it is being committed.
-It is shameful when it is a sin of the heart.
-It is shameful when it is a sin in the flesh.

12. -It is shameful when it is done in the open.
-It is shameful when it is done in secret.
-The sinner will always be brought to shame, if not before other people, surely before the Lord.

13. Proverbs 15:3
-The eyes of the Lord are in every place, Keeping watch on the evil and the good.
Luke 12:3- Therefore whatever you have spoken in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have spoken in the ear in inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops.

Leviticus 22:10 
-The man who commits adultery with another man’s wife, he who commits adultery with his neighbor’s wife, the adulterer and the adulteress, shall surely be put to death.

18. Deuteronomy 22:22
“If a man is found lying with a woman married to a husband, then both of them shall die—the man that lay with the woman, and the woman; so you shall put away the evil from Israel. Adulterous women who were betrothed were stoned to death, married women were strangled, and if the woman was the daughter of a priest, she was to be burned to death.
