A force must be applied The force is applied over a distance So the equation is Work = force x distance W = Fd Units: Work: Joules (J) Force: Newtons (N) distance: meters (m)

So does that mean If the guy pushed on the car and it didn’t move, he did not do any work???? TRUE. According to the definition, unless the car moves, no work was done by the man.

What are Joules? The unit of work is Joules ( J )
In order to simplify the units for work, it was decided that 1 Joule = 1 N ● m SO: As long as Force is in Newtons and distance is in meters, The unit of work is Joules ( J )
