Homework expectations
Research has shown that those children who complete home learning regularly make better progress in their learning than those who do not. As Teachers we really value the support that our parents give. The help that the children receive at home is as vital to their learning as their time in school and is therefore a great benefit to your children. It is expected that homework is completed to the same high standards as those that we expect in school. Children will receive weekly spellings which they will be expected to learn daily in their homework books. They will also continue to write in their learning diaries and read every day.

Reading Homework expectations
Children will be expected to read every day. When reading at home is vital that the children take part in discussions and questioning about the book they are reading will help their comprehension and understanding skills. A Even confident reader benefit from having an adult to question them and help deepen their understanding of what they are reading. Children need to be able to retrieve information from a text as well as evidence their ideas when giving more detailed answers.

Times tables. By the end of Year 4, children are expected to know all the times tables up to 12x2 and their corresponding division facts. Children will start by learning their x2, x5 and x10 times tables. Each week they will be tested on 40 of these questions, jumbled up and with division facts in too. When they get them all right they will then progress a level and start learning a new x tables which will then be added into their tests each week.
