Oral Language Grammar – basic understanding & rules that regulate the usage of language. Diction – degree of clarity and distinctness in a persons speech Pronunciation-overall sound of a word Articulation – clearly & distinctly uttering the consonants Enunciation- clearly & distinctly uttering the vowels of a word

Regional – area of which a person is from Ethnic & cultural -

Power language Formal – conforms to a high structure of rules
Technical – associated with a particular profession, activity, or field of study (jargon) Standard – used by the majority Informal – used in casual & interpersonal conversations Ungrammatical – does not use expected standards of grammar or mechanics
