1 Polymeric Corrugated Metal Pipe (PCMP)
Hello, thank you all for taking time from your busy schedule and Jim thank you for putting on this meeting. My name is Dana Hayek and I work for Contech Engineered Solutions, as the Alaska Sales Engineer. How many people have heard of or worked with Contech/ its product lines prior to today? Our focus today’s meeting will be Polymeric Corrugated Metal Pipe. Polymeric Corrugated Metal Pipe (PCMP)

2 Contech Engineered Site Solutions
Bridges, Drainage, Stormwater Management, Wastewater Treatment, Erosion Control, Structures, Retaining Walls, Roadway & Earth Stabilization

3 Polymer TRENCHCOAT ® protective film bonds to galvanized steel both chemically and physically TRENCHCOAT Heavy Gauge Polymer Film (10 mil) It features a 10 mil polymer film applied to each side of a galvanized steel coil AFTER the galv process. Zinc Steel Alloy Layers Steel

4 Polymer CSP coated with TRENCHCOAT offers: Excellent Adhesion
Chemical resistance to Acids Alkalis Salts Abrasion resistance Weatherability Water barrier imperviousness It has been around in its present form since the late 70’s. It’s been highly tested and field proven. Not to the extent of AL-T2, but close. (review slide)

5 Environmental Limits for 50 Year Service Life
Polymer Environmental Limits for 50 Year Service Life pH Resistivity > 250 ohm-cm Abrasion: Good in levels 1 - 3; use invert treatments in level 4 (review slide) The resistivity limit should be shown as 250 ohm-cm (for 50-year life).

6 FHWA abrasion guidelines:
Abrasion is a function of flow velocity and bed load. In the absence of bed load, abrasion is not a factor. FHWA abrasion guidelines: Abrasion Level Abrasion Condition Bed Load Flow Velocity (fps) Level 1 Non – Abrasive None Low Level 2 Low Abrasive Minor (sand) < 5 Level 3 Moderate Abrasive Moderate (sand & gravel) 5 - 15 Level 4 Severe Abrasive Heavy (sand, gravel & rock) > 15 FHWA has provided guidance with abrasion. They relate it to the type of objects moving through (bed load) and the velocity of flow. Level 3 and 4 abrasion, even in a neutral environment, can wreak havoc on the invert, which can greatly reduce service life.

7 NCSPA Service Life Estimate – 16 ga
Polymer NCSPA Service Life Estimate – 16 ga Service Life pH Levels Resistivity 100 years 5 - 9 > 1500 ohm.cm (review slide) 75 years 4 - 9 > 300 ohm.cm

LONG-TERM FIELD INVESTIGATION OF POLYMER COATED CORRUGATED STEEL PIPE (2012) The data continues to support guidance for a polymer coating “add-on” life of 80 years. The polymer coating continues to protect the galvanized steel pipe in severe environmental and abrasion conditions beyond the design conditions. In all of the pipes, less than 5% of the polymer had coating delamination. Written by: Elzly Technology Corportation Prepared for: NCSPA
