Name came from the buttons that looked like dumplings on Civil War uniforms.

Russia Leaves the War Lenin takes control of Russia. He had promised to make peace with Germany if he came to power. As a result of peace with Germany, Germany becomes more powerful and almost takes Paris. The U.S. steps in and incurred heavy losses and began to turn the tide of the war.

Armistice Cease fire. November, 1918.
Germany wanted to negotiate terms, the Allies refused and Germany was forced to surrender.

Death toll 50,000 Americans died in battle. 8 million Europeans.
