1 Tiger Rising By: Kate DiCamillo Created by: Mrs. Bliss

2 Introduction In the beginning of Tiger Rising, we meet a young sad boy by the name of Rob. He is dealing with the loss of his mother, a strained relationship with his father, and bullying at school. However Rob feels as though his luck has finally changed having found a real live tiger! Perhaps Lister,Fl won’t be so bad after all.

3 Setting Lister, Florida Kentucky Star Motel Woods

4 Main Characters Rob – 12 year old boy who moved from Jacksonville to Lister, Florida. His mother passed away so he keeps his emotions inside his “suitcase.” He lives at the Kentucky Star Motel. Rob is bullied by the Three monger brothers. Sistine – 12 year old girl who moved from Philadelphia to Lister, Florida. Her dad cheated on her mother. She does not like Lister and thinks her dad is going to bring her back to Philadelphia. Willie May- Housekeeper at the Kentucky Star Hotel. She says Rob has a rash on his legs because he holds in his feelings. Beauchamp – Owner of the Kentucky Star and of the tiger. He gives Rob the keys to the tiger’s cage so Rob can feed it. Robert Horton – Rob’s father. He works at the Kentucky Star Motel and is underpaid by Beauchamp

5 Plot Rob has found a tiger, and along with his new friend Sistine they both look to free it. Little does Rob know that on his way to freeing this tiger he will also be also freeing his feelings from his “suit case” as well. Sistine too is in for a surprise that by freeing this tiger she may be able to free some of her own locked up feelings.

6 Climax Tiger is let out of cage! Rob had done it, he had done it for Sistine and perhaps in one way or another for himself too. Rob saw how badly Sistine needed for this tiger to be free, she needed to feel free herself in some way.

7 Conclusion Rob’s dad shoots the tiger. Rob’s “suitcase” is open now. He lets his feelings out. Him and Sistine become good friends.
