CNED program in GLEN EIRA COLLEGE through ESFM association Grade 7 (5ème in France) to grade 10 (Seconde in France) Who is this program for? You are a French student in an expatriation situation, intending to continue your studies upon your return to France(1) You are an Australian student who wants to study in French(2) Glen Eira College is an institution recognized and licensed by the CNED What is ESFM association? French Secondary School in Melbourne. It is a non-profit association, run by volunteer student parents. She manages the partnership with Glen Eira College to teach the 3 main subjects of the French program proposed by the CNED: MATHEMATICS, FRENCH, HISTORY-GEOGRAPHY (+ Spanish) What is the CNED ? National Center for Distance Education. Public institution of an administrative nature of the French Ministry of Education offering and validating distance learning courses. (1) The formula "international tuition" including the teaching of the 3 main subjects is strongly recommended because it allows to obtain the equivalence of level in France with the consulate (2) If you plan to continue your schooling in Australia, you can choose your subjects à la carte according to your expectations

WEEKLY SCHEDULE Grade 7 (5ème in France) et 8 (4ème in France) FRENCH
HISTORY- GEOGRAPHY MATHEMATICS SPANISH 4 x 50 min 3 x 50 min 2 x 1h30 min 1 x 1h30 min On school time Outside school time 3:15pm to 4:45pm (Monday and Wednesday) (Tuesday) The partnership between the ESFM and Glen Eira College allows students to follow these 2 subjects during school time. These subjects are integrated in their timetable, instead of less fundamental subjects (living language, cooking, visual art etc ...). Students benefit from the "best of both world" by integrating French schooling into their Australian curriculum. The contribution of these 2 school systems is a plus for them! The choice of this subject is not mandatory but highly recommended if you plan a return to France (see previous page) The choice of this subject is not mandatory to obtain level equivalence in France.

HISTORY – GEOGRAPHY MATHEMATICS SPANISH 5 x 50 min 2 x 1h30 1 x 1h30 2 x 1h30 min 1 x 1h30 min On school time Outside school time 3:15pm to 4:45pm (Tuesday and Friday) (Thirsday) (Monday and Wednesday) (Tuesday) + 2h homework The choice of these subjects is not mandatory but highly recommended if you plan a return to France The choice of this subject is not mandatory to obtain level equivalence in France. For grade 10 students, because of a more busy schedule, all subjects are taught after classes.

Cédric CHAMONTIN (French and history-geography teacher) Nathalie LEPETIT (Mathematics, French and histoiry-geography teacher) Cécile DUTRIEUX (ESFM association President) Due to the small number of children enrolled at the CNED, courses offered outside school time bring together students of different levels. 2 mathematics teachers divide the students in the following way : a class brings together Grades 7 and 9 a class brings together Grades 8 and 10 Grade 9 and 10 students have History of Geography lessons together on Thursdays In 2019 Grade 7 and 9 students will be grouped together for French classes Teachers make sure they are as available as possible to students by: - Explanations of fundamental notions - Individual monitoring of students during exercise times In 2019, recommended by the teachers, the paper version of the CNED courses will be ordered for all students. They will also have access to the electronic version.

PRICING AND INVOICES The teaching of the French program with the CNED has a cost. All fees include: CNED registration Course booklets, evaluation statements, online logbook Teacher salaries and administrative fees (sending of evaluations) The tuition fees for the CNED program at Glen Eira College (GEC) are prorated to the number of students enrolled. They vary slightly each year and are likely to be reviewed during the year. Here are the costs per student and per subject for the 2019 school year* : CNED REGISTRATION FEE (international tuition) FRENCH and HISTORY – GEOGRAPHY On school time Grade 7 and Grade 8 MATHEMATICS Grade 7 to Grade 10 FRENCH Grade 10 HISTORY - GEOGRAPHY Grade 9 and 10 SPANISH Invoice sent by ESFM GEC Invoice periodicity Annual Quarterly Bi-annual GRADE 7 $ 970 $ 255 $ 350 $ 110 GRADE 8 GRADE 9 $ 220 GRADE 10 $ 1050 Are not included in those fees: GEC tuition fees (approximately $475/year) and the books to read in French and textbooks of the Australian curriculum. * 2019 fees may be subject to changes according to the number of students enrolled on the program. However fees are due to ESFM from the enrolment even if the student is not to complete a full term.

THE BENEFITS OF FOLLOWING CNED PROGRAM IN GLEN EIRA
The best of the two school systems: follow-up of the Australian curriculum and possibility to follow the French CNED program at GEC over these four years, from Grade 7 to Grade 10 Possibility to present the VCE French units 3 and 4 (1) and thus to validate this subject a year in advance for the VCE Possibility to follow and validate a French university level subject that will be counted in the calculation of the final score at VCE (ATAR score) Possibility to attend the DELF (2) level B1 in Grade 8 and level B2 in Grade 9 All GEC students who study French participate to the French poetry competition "Berthe Mouchette" organized by the Alliance Française G7-10 G11 G12 DELF Berthe Mouchette Units 1 and 2 are automatically validated if CNED program has been followed the 4 previous years including year 10 (Y7, Y8, Y9, Y10) DELF (Diploma of Studies in French Language): Diploma awarded by the French Ministry of National Education. It attests candidate's French language level as a foreign language in all language skills (speaking, written and oral comprehension). It is a worldwide recognized diploma and valid for life. It is useful for the continuation of university study in a French-speaking country.
