1. Coach and car park spaces available in the car park opposite the entrance to the Castle. Toilet facilities are available here cost 20p coin .

2. Turn right coming out of the carpark and follow the path . Risk Assessment Note: here is a small stream running along the right had side of the path.

3. Follow the path until you reach the bridge and then walk across the bridge that you will see in front of you . Risk Assessment Note: Do not walk over the road as there is no pathway to follow. Stewards will be needed at this point.

4. The path becomes a gravel path – follow until the end where it meets the road. Risk Assessment Note: Loose stones and the stream is now on the left of the path.

5. The children will need to cross the road at this point and walk through the gates that are opposite. Risk Assessment Note: Stewards will be needed here to ensure safe crossing – a blind corner from the right .

6. Follow the gravel path around the right hand side of the lake until you come to a gate . Risk Assessment Note: Stewards will be needed here .

7. The path continues round to the left but don’t follow it. Go through the gate and follow the path through the field. Risk Assessment Note: Stewards will be needed here . If wet the path from now on could be muddy!

8. The path continues through the field and round to the right until it comes to a place where you can either turn right or left . You will need to follow the path round to the left . It will gradually climb . Risk Assessment Note: Stewards will be needed here . If wet the path from now on could be muddy and will have sheep droppings along it!

9. Continue to follow the path until you reach a gate. Risk Assessment Note: Stewards will be needed here. The gate is locked therefore students will need to climb over using the stile to the left.

10. To your left you will see a set of steps . Walk up the steps to the top . You will be opposite a tower. Risk Assessment Note: Stewards will be needed here.

11. Turn to the left at the top and follow the path until you see a natural break in the grass to the right . Walk across the grass until you reach a tarmac path. Risk Assessment Note: Stewards will be needed here.

12. Walk to the left and follow the path, through concrete gates until you reach the main road. Risk Assessment Note: Stewards will be needed by the main road.

13. Walk to the left across a small area of grass onto the pavement. Follow the pavement until you reach the Cathedral. Risk Assessment Note: Narrow pavement traffic to the right.

14. Cross the road and enter the Cathedral. Risk Assessment Note: Stewards needed to monitor the crossing of all students.
