2 Facts Only 51% of the patients treated for hypertension adhere to the treatment. Between 40% and 70% of patients with depression adhere to antidepressants. 43% of the asthmatic patients take their medications as prescribed and only 28% use prescribed preventative medication. Between 37% and 83% of patients with HIV and AIDS adhere to antiretroviral agents.

6 System Input/output Flow
1  Receive pill cartridge from pharmacy containing “Medi- Code”. 2  Input Medi-Code into system website. 3  Alarm sounds when pills are to be taken. User then presses dispense button to receive pills. 3.5  Alternative to alarm sounding: User wants to leave the house for a few hours, so they press the button to see if current time is within “flex-time”. Dispense if yes, display wait time if no. 4  When cartridge near empty or empty, system displays which cartridge is empty or the pill count when low.
