Jan. 9, 2017 Mrs. Hicks’ Classroom News Terrific Kids: 1/20 Dhathri Bridgette Riley Report Cards please be sure to return the signed yellow envelope! The report card is yours to keep! Math: We are beginning our first unit on Decimals. Homework this week: Monday: 12-1 Understanding Decimals Tuesday: 12-2 Decimal Place Value Wednesday: 12-3 Fractions and Decimals Thursday: 12-4 Fractions and Decimals on the Number Line Friday: 12-5 Mixed Numbers and Decimals on the Number Line Science: We will be focused on Earth Science for this 9-weeks. We will begin by looking at Rainfall in the United States. We will also be looking at the Pacific Northwest Forest. ESS2.A: Earth Materials & Systems: Rainfall helps to shape the land and affects the types of living things found in a region. Water, ice, wind, living organisms, and gravity break rocks, soils, and sediments into smaller particles and move them around PTO Meeting Join us next Thursday, Jan. 12 for our first PTO meeting in the new year. We will meet in the library after school at 3:45. Hope to see you there! Martin Luther King Jr. Day Jan. 16 – No School
