2 Introduction The Iditarod dog sled race is about a disease called Diphtheria. And it started because people and kids were very sick.

3 Musher My musher’s name is Justin Savidis. His bib Number is 19
He is 40 years old. Hometown: Willow, Alaska

4 Dogs The dogs wore booties
They usually use huskies and Alaskan Malamutes. They started the race with 16 dogs.

5 Routes & Checkpoints There are 1049 Miles in the race
There are 17 Checkpoints this year.

6 Awards Red Lantern Award- presented to the last musher to finish the race. Wells Fargo Bank Alaska Gold Coast Award- presented to the first musher to reach the “Gold Coast” community “Unalakleet. PenAir Award- Presented to the first musher to reach McGrath.
