Title I

2 What is title I? Title I is a K-12 program that provides additional academic support and learning opportunities for students at schools with an above average percentage of socioeconomically disadvantaged children. (Free and reduced lunch) The program is intended to help ensure that all students meet state academic standards.

3 Goals of Title I Increase academic achievement.
Provide direct instructional support to students. Provide professional development for teachers. Promote parent education and involvement.

5 Parental Notification Requirements
Parents have the right to know the qualifications of their teachers. If they want that information they can contact the Superintendent's office. Parent's have the right to know if a teacher is not highly qualified. Magnolia has 100% highly qualified rate. Parent Involvement policy and Parent School Compact. (Copies on website)

6 Parental Involvement Parents play an integral role in their child’s learning. Parents are encouraged to be actively involved in their child’s education at school. Parents are full partners in their child’s education and included, as appropriate, in decision-making and on advisory committees such as volunteer activities, PTO/PTA and other Parent Advocacy Group to assist in the education of their child. NCLB defines parental involvement as the participation of parents in regular, two-way, meaningful communication involving student academic learning and other school activities.

Membership- District Liaisons: Dr. Warren Pross- Superinendent Mrs. Karen MacPherson- Director of Curriculum and Instruction. Mrs. Kelly Livingston- Literacy Coach & Interventionist (Parent Representatives for to be determined.)

8 Parent Involvement and Engagement Activities
Literacy and technology training for parents. Parent training to enhance involvement of other parents. Parent Teacher Conferences Participation in Parent Advisory Group Parent training based on parent interest ( to be determined)
