Genghis had died in 1227, but Khubilai Khan finished his work.
Prior to this they were nomadic, now they had a place to settle.
Khanates develop after Genghis Khan’s death.
Chaghadai, Samarkand, Persia/Baghdad, and Kipchak (Golden Horde). Khubilai takes Yuan China.

However, the success in China was met with failure in Japan and Vietnam.
