Nature of the War It was a total war
All resources of different nations were mobilized. Democratic governments directed economy by telling factories to produce what they wanted Fixed prices, wages and rationed consumer goods

Nazis blamed minorities for German problems Jews, Slavs, Gypsies, & physically or mentally disabled people were targeted Jews were sent to concentration camps Genocide was committed systematically War of Atrocities Japanese killed & raped Chinese, Korean, Filipino civilians. Soviets targeted a lot of Poles for death

Americans used atomic bombs in Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki 75 million killed Economic Losses Throughout Europe and parts of Asia cities and factories were completely destroyed It took many years before the economies of these nations could be recovered.
