Registration Guidelines
*Everyone MUST sign up for 8 courses. *Everyone MUST choose 3 alternates. Due to scheduling conflicts and availability of classes, students often end up with an alternate. Alternates cannot be repeats of the 8 top choices. *Students must meet prerequisites for certain courses. See online course guide for more information. *There will be NO SCHEDULE CHANGES unless: --Course failure or prerequisite not met; OR --Graduation Requirement

Registration Instructions:
-Review the online curriculum guide for details about classes, graduation requirements, etc. -Take your registration sheet home and review carefully with your parent or guardian. Remember: the classes you choose during registration are the classes you will take next year. We will not make schedule changes. -Many of you have courses highlighted on your registration sheet and in Powerschool. These are teacher recommendations for next year. It is okay if you do not have recommendations- feel free to discuss options with your teachers or your counselor. If you do have recommendations, carefully consider this in your class choice-these recommendations have been based on your test scores and grades. -We will begin registration starting next week. In order to register, we must have your registration sheets returned with both student AND parent signature. We will not allow you to register without a parent signature! If you are a sophomore or junior, you will register one-on- one with your counselor. Please come to the counseling office on the day and time that is written on your registration form. If you are a freshman, you will be called to a computer lab by homeroom.

Sophomores: March 18th-21st Freshman: March 22nd Make-Up Day: Counselors will call you up You must have your registration sheet complete with parent signature in order to register!

Online Catawba & NCVPS courses
Online courses are available to students with strict guidelines: You must have a 3.0 GPA or higher and NEVER have failed an online course. You will spend at least 90 minutes daily working on website and/or modules. Working online is a tremendous time commitment. All final grades will be recorded on your transcript. When a class is offered at SSHS, you will take the seated class unless there is a conflict with your schedule.

Visual Arts Registration Guidelines
ALL students must have successfully completed Beginning Visual Design (BVD). After students complete BVD, they may take ANY Beginning level course (painting, photography, pottery, sculpture, drawing). Students having completed a beginning level course in a specific studio area MUST have art teacher initials to take upper level courses (Intermediate, Proficient, Advanced). Students wishing to take AP Studio 2-D Design, AP Studio 3-D Design, AP Drawing are required to present a portfolio of work and meet the prerequisite requirements. They may only have signature from Mrs. Deal-Flynn after meeting these requirements. This course is taught over 2 semesters beginning with the appropriate Advanced level course 1st semester and the AP course 2nd semester.

CTE Internships Recommended for 11th or 12th grade-must be able to provide transportation 2.5 GPA (3.0 for Health Science internship) Must complete 135 hours Follow the REGISTRATION link on the Counseling Department’s page for an online application. Teacher and counselor recommendation required.

CCP Classes Offered through CVCC
Available to Juniors/ Seniors Choose Pathway- College Transfer or Technical College Transfer Pathway requires 2.8 GPA or higher or college-ready test scores in English, Reading, and Math Technical Pathways: Some Technical pathways require testing to determine eligibility, but some do not require testing. Please see Mrs. Moulton in Counseling if you are interested. Students must complete a CVCC application.
