THIS WEEK… Today: discuss Rhetorical Analysis Prompt, look at some samples. Tuesday: Try a timed Rhetorical Analysis Prompt. BRING A PEN. Weds: 10th grade PLAN testing. 2nd period- meet in library. Bring your TEXTBOOK. 5th- meet in classroom like normal.

What the prompt looks like…
Take a look at the prompt, text, and rubric. A 5 is considered “adequate.” Below a 5- you have problems. Above 5- very good. Same 9 point rubric for all AP Language essays.

Read the text carefully. How would you plan?
Annotate the text. Think about the method we discussed and practiced. Focus Diction/ Imagery suggests… Label devices you see. Circle diction, underline details, (figurative language) Draft a thesis.

Let’s look at some student samples.
What do you notice? All three are good examples- a 9, 8 and 7. Which do you think is which?
