This is the first step in setting up an experiment.
Here you are asking what you can test or you are determining the problem.

3. Forming a Hypothesis This is when you write an ”IF” “THEN” statement.
This is when you are stating if one thing occurs then you think the result will be this.

4. Planning and conducting an Experiment
Now you are ready to plan the experiment
You plan out the variables: Independent, dependent, control, experimental
Determine your constants
Then actually conduct your experiment

5. Collecting data
While conducting your experiment you need to be collecting data in some way
That can be: in a table, in a chart, in a graph, on the computer, in a notebook, etc.

6. Data Analysis
Now you are taking the data that you have collected and you are trying to figure out what it means
If the data is in a table try putting it in a graph and see if that helps you compare it

7. Conclusion
During this portion of an experiment you are taking everything that you have seen or collected and stating whether it supports or hypothesis or whether it does not, refutes it.
